Spread in the area of 240 sq. Kms, Mollem National Park is located in Sanguem taluk in Goa. the place lies 60 kms away from Panaji, the capital city of Goa. The park was earlier recognised with the name of Mollem Game sanctuary. In 1969, it was renamed as Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary. In 1978, the center of the park with the area of 107 sq kms was named as Mollem national park. Since then it was recognised both as Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park.
The national park houses wide variety of animals and birds. King Cobra, Hump-nosed pit viper, Indian rock python and Malabar pit viper are some amazing species of snakes available in the park. Part from that, there are various types of birds in the park including fairy bluebird, wagtails, three-toed kingfisher, drongo, golden oriole, great Indian hornbill.
Other than that, tourist will have great time exploring the beautiful forest and green lush surroundings at the park. The park also endorses some really beautiful and rare species of butterflies like Blue Mormon, Crimson Rose, Tailed Jay, Malabar Tree Nymph, Tamil Yoeman, Plain Tiger and Lime Butterfly.

Unlike other wildlife sanctuaries, vehicles are allowed inside the park. You can park your vehicle inside the forest and explore the wild sounds of jungle here at Mollem national park. If you want to explore the nature’s immense shower at the park then opting for trekking trails is the best idea. Tambdi Surla temple, Devil’s Canyon, Sunset Point and Tambdi Water Falls are the other main attractions of the park.
